Google define

O Rafa me avisou que agora o Google tem um recurso que é muito interessante: procure por define qualquer coisa e a primeira coisa que aparecerá será uma definição do que você está procurando. Eis algumas definições bem interessantes:

  • Linux: A version of UNIX that has gained popularity because of its stability as an operating system for hosting web servers. Linux is open source software and is freely available over the Internet.
  • Windows: A family of operating systems for personal computers, Windows dominates the personal computer world, running, by some estimates, on 90% of all personal computers. Like the Macintosh operating environment, Windows provides a graphical user interface (GUI), virtual memory management, multitasking, and support for many peripheral devices. In addition to Windows 3.x and Windows 95, which run on Intel -based machines, Microsoft also sells Windows NT, a more advanced operating system that runs on a variety of hardware platforms. [ Como se pode perceber essa definição está um pouco desatualizada… ]
  • Macintosh: A personal computer introduced in the mid-1980s as an alternative to the IBM PC. Macintoshes popularized the graphical user interface and the 3 1/2 inch diskette drive.
  • Linus Torvalds: Created Linux in 1991 while a university student.
  • Bill Gates: Founder and current chairman of Microsoft. Depending on who you talk to, he\’s either one of the greatest businessmen who has ever lived or a double-dealing blackguard who epitomizes the worst evils of capitalism. Or both.

And last but not least:

  • Google: Currently the most important spidering search engine by far, Google is dominating the search engine market.
